It appears that I have totally neglected the year , 2010. I'm sure Facebook tended to take it's place. Although sometimes it becomes depressing enough to keep me away from it for days, even weeks or months. At other times , when I get to look at pictures of my loved ones - - or hear good "family news" - Facebook give me joy for a time. I have noticed how e-mails have slowed down to a snails pace - - and I miss the days in the past , when that was our only "Sharing" (Outside of holidays or celebrations and Telephone) Well here it is - -2011 - and I have just passed my 76th birthday! Sometimes almost startled at my relatively good health at this age. Startled , I suppose - because of those that have gone on - so much younger!! My sister-in-law, Carol,(64) My friends from childhood, Sharon(64) and Marianne(about 62) and our son, Edward John(53) (I miss them all) Life goes on - and still I am reminded that "EVERDAY is a GIFT" !Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-26473429222631701102009-12-20T21:46:00.000-08:002009-12-20T21:46:28.311-08:00Frank Schaeffer: Open Letter From Jesus to "Christian" AmericaFrank Schaeffer: Open Letter From Jesus to "Christian" AmericaGrandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-54650500021739403692009-09-06T17:09:00.000-07:002009-09-06T17:12:50.051-07:00Labor Day Weekend - -It has come all too quickly! Even though we look forward to 14 days on a cruise ship to Hawaii, it is kind of sad that our time up here is ending. Each summer goes faster!
Especially in the evenings, we can tell that Autumn is well on it's way - -Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-14396200636875002962009-07-26T08:37:00.000-07:002009-07-26T08:42:49.405-07:00Two storms in 3 days! The ground really got soaked! Yesterday's thunderstorm included a Hail storm - - very noisy - kind of exciting! and it sure was good for the ground and the fire dangers.
Woke up at 6:10 a.m. to an overcast sky - - the first time in a long time --- but now at 8:40 the sun has broken through and once again -- a beautiful day! (Not that even overcast days aren't beautiful - but there is something about sunshine filtering through trees -- - -:)
It's time for Rebel and me to go on our "morning walk in the woods" - - in fact it's a bit late for us - it's warming up quickly out there -- should be out by 7:30 --
Got looking up old letters - got a bit nostalgic - had fun reminiscing here in my computer - - tsk tsk -- should get dressed and go enjoy romping in the sunny Forest -- so yes -- I think I shall!
Til another time - - -
JoniGrandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-21485619494479304592009-07-26T08:27:00.000-07:002009-07-26T08:46:38.955-07:00

Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-22814202930688981592009-07-04T17:16:00.000-07:002009-07-04T17:43:50.380-07:00Happy 4th of July! - 2009On this quiet 4th of July - - Ralph and I look back on so many that we have spent together -- that weren't "quiet" ! 55 years ago - and for many years after -- we walked our 4 offspring down to the corner of Shepard Ave in Kenmore, N.Y. to view the annual parade - - ! Then back to Grandma Judge and Aunt Babe's family -- for yummy picnic fare! Fireworks at Sheridan park!
Then came the years of "camping" with our family and usually with several other families. Campfires! S'mores! Corn on the cob!
Then our 4 grew up -- and began having families of their own -- and our move to Arizona brought a pool into the equation - where for years, ours was the only pool - - so not only on the fourth of July -- but often every Sunday - it was a pool party - - with hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. -
And then - for 8 summers -- we experienced our Cottage on Round Lake in Ontario, Canada!
Where the 4th was celebrated with our friend Sharon and her family - the John Jacksons and often Jill and her family . Fireworks off the dock and into the lake! yummy food! lotsa laughs!

Times change and we change with them, as the saying goes. As families "expand" with grandchildren and obligations of their own --
2008 found us at our latest small "abode" - - in Show Low. A Park model cabin - just big enuf' for two.
Our son Eddy came up with his dtr.(our Granddaugher) Missy --and his granddaugher Sophia, and Eddy stayed with us. And we had visits from Connie and Dan - - And Vanessa - Eddy's granddaughter (our great grand) - and her mommy, Amanda! A busy weekend! And fun! They all went to fireworks - - we watched them on TV ! :)
Now it's 2009 - - our son Eddy has left our world -- and we miss him - and we're thankful for the memories -- .
Today on this fourth - We had KFC with side dishes (Pot luck) by all of us in our little RV community - in the clubhouse.
There were decorations of red, white and blue -- - - and an hour or so of "socializing" with our neighbors - -
yes - "Things change, and we change with them " --
We've adapted --and are grateful for each other. 57 (almost) years "together" - -and I love this man more than ever! (if "more" was ever possible)

There will be fireworks tonight in town -- but - -we'll watch them on TV, thank you! :)
And! We are content -- (and thankful) - after years of busyness and yet quite happy for this time of "not so busy" - and rather "quiet" - -Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-85803104369315444472009-03-05T12:33:00.000-08:002009-03-05T12:47:22.707-08:00Tis March-2009- -and there is sadness in our space - - We have lost the fun of our Son Eddy , in our lives.
A very sudden passing - - and the shock of it almost unbearable. But Bear it we do -and will.
We try daily to concentrate on all those things about and with Eddy that we have - to be so thankful for , and which give us wonderful memories. We are thankful that today would have been his 2nd year anniversary of Sobriety! His 6th month of smoke-free living!
We are thankful that the past Holiday season was spent with so many days with him , right here with us in our home - while his brother , Johnny also visited us.What fun ! What laughter! what craziness!
We're thankful that we were with him on February 8th - to celebrate my birthday, and had such a fun and GOOD visit! I am thankful for the book he "Gifted" me with - titled "Listening is an Act of Love" -but a little angry with him for not signing it as he usually does :)
But that's ok --I'll get over it. I'll treasure all the other books that ARE signed lovingly!
So - this is just a little "therapy" for me -- and to help me remember to be thankful - always - for the sparkle and zest for living that our first son so often brought into our lives. His Dad will miss, so very much, their hour long (or more) telephone talks about cooking, shopping for the cooking, cars, Bicycles (and putting them together:) - that took place at least once a week!
We'll miss his visits to our place in Show Low that he loved so much! We'll miss SO much of Eddy!Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-7471909320234347172009-02-10T10:00:00.000-08:002009-02-10T10:03:47.637-08:00More on my birthday -Sure wish I could "do" the pictures as I want to -- -! But anyway - messy as it looks - all those precious Great Grands are represented.
It's a beautiful day! Sun is shining - ! It's cooler this week - almost cold enough to convince us that it's winter - but I'm looking out at red geraniums and purple petunia's and various other green vines -- and flowers and sunshine, always make me happy! :)Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-68002704141673363622009-02-10T09:21:00.000-08:002009-02-10T09:58:07.440-08:00<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301227595177023474" style="FLOAT: right; It was fun-

And now a new year! 2009 !

We enjoyed our annual N.Y.'s eve get-to-gether with our friends , the Petrini's and the Willmons, at Petrini's home. (above right)

Now it's February - and our annual Superbowl gathering at Willmons has passed -

And today is the 10th -! My birthday! (How come I feel so young inside?)

I woke up , forgetting this was my day --and came out to a wonderful handwritten "greeting" on our pass through- after which Ralph instructed me to go further into the kitchen - where there on the island was waiting a waffle - with pecans! Strawberries! Whipped cream! my favorite breakfast when I veer from my usual "coffee with protein powder and Irish cream Splenda" breakfast. It was yummy! (why can't I insert a picture HERE? instead of at the top?) grrr

So - - a birthday is, I suppose a time for introspection -- which in my case isn't what I'm in to today -but rather my realizing all that I have to be thankful for -- The first being that I have lived this long - in good health - ! (74! years!) Next - that I have been blessed with a kind and loving husband who demonstrates his love and loyalty , daily! 56 years!

We have 4 healthy offspring! Three who have produced 10 wonderful grandchildren , and many of those, have produced 10 incredible Great-grandchildren for us to enjoy and watch grow.

I think I will add here - that I'm glad to be an Arizonan - after my first 41 years being in Buffalo, N.Y. - because my birthday month in Buffalo was often surrounded in slushy, brown/gray snow - gloomy skies and not much sunshine all month - sunshine that I NEED!

So thank you God and Western Electric -- for giving me wonderful sunshine and flowers in February! :)
Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-74301037347778968802008-11-23T13:18:00.000-08:002008-11-23T13:29:33.926-08:00Autumn??? I don't think so - -Thanksgiving is just four days from now! And still!!! our temperatures here in Mesa, AZ. are hovering between 76o and 880! Thankfully, mornings and evenings are much cooler --!
There is a football game going on , on our tV - so it must be Fall!

We're looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner with Debbie and her family - We don't see Courtney and Hayden Tramundanas real often, now that mommy and Daddy aren't living together any longer :( - so it will be fun to see them for the first time since last early summer , when I took them and their mommy MIchele, to lunch.
RAlph will make two kinds of trifle -- our regular "Grandma Jamieson" kind that we all grew up with -- and then a newcomer to the family -- a pumpkin trifle! Yum!

Johnny won't be home for Thanksgiving this year - but says he'll be here for Christmas.
He is loving North Carolina -

Kathy and Ricks family keeps growing and growing - and they will most all be together - Six grandchildren now! It should be a fun gathering over there!

And so - no matter the weather! or the economy! All of us, together in our several gatherings, will continue to be thankful for so many things!
"Each day is a gift!"Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-31723133277187334922008-11-15T18:52:00.000-08:002008-11-15T21:24:20.915-08:00

Since I'm done with "Facebook" -- I think I had better get some updated pictures on here - -especially a few from the picnic we had with Jenna, Jonathan, Noah & Eden - when we met them in Payson in October.

Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-84671617636974969122008-11-10T14:54:00.000-08:002008-11-10T15:07:07.773-08:00Pictures from our morning! The family have mostly changed their blogs or album spaces - - so it's hard to keep up. it seems many are going to Picasa - - should I , I wonder? I have some posted on Kodak , some on Snapfish (Most) and some on Picasa. And probably a few others too - Shutterfly maybe? photo bucket? maybe.
Anyway - we are up in our park model in the relative "cool" of the White Mt.s of Show Low - -and the Mogollan Rim. While we miss Round Lake, Ontario - and our friends there - we are adjusting and enjoying.
Made a few new friends -- and have enjoyed some who have come to visit us on occasion.
We only have room to sleep 2 on a hideabed - -so there are limits to our "guests" -- for overnight - however , we have served up to eight on our screened in porch - or inside on TV trays or end tables, etc. Lack of space has never left us hungry!Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-59839762169303505032008-08-25T14:29:00.000-07:002008-08-25T14:36:47.461-07:00A Girl for Sarah and Eric ! The female is really quite pretty, even tho' she doesn't have any red on her. :) I did get a picture of her also -- but 2 birds are enough!
It was very nice to be outside most of the time -- and tend to some flowers I've planted and take a walk etc. -- -
Now we have come back to Mesa and 110o heat -which today matched the record of 28 days of 110 degrees! Retirement after all, is for such things as birdwatching, isn't it? We've seen one different pair of birds here , to replace the Pileated woodpeckers of our Eastern Canada woods -the Hairy woodpecker - whose male has a red head. We also have great numbers of Goldfinch, who love our niger seed! Nuthatches are here too -- so all of our momento's on which friend Sharon painted nuthatches, will feel right at home.
(When and if they ever get here!) :)

Bears have been visiting in our neighborhood - it seems they enjoy all the contents of the many birdfeeders ! I have yet to spot either of the reportedly two resident bears - - even tho' a neighbor reports that one of them walked right down the road in front of our place after depleting his bird feeders and leaving them on the ground. It happened at about 9:30 P.m. and the dog, Rebel that we are doggie sitting for son Eddy, was acting very jittery so I did look out - but of course looked towards the woods , NOT towards the open road! So! I missed him!

While I don't want to "encounter" the bear or have him invade our inside space - I would get a kick out of "seeing" him. :)

The picture above, to the far left - is the road coming home to Mesa , coming down from "The Mogollan Rim" and the mountains. I don't seem to have found the formula for putting pictures where I want them - - :) Would have liked that picture down here - but , oh well - it gives you a taste of some of our beautiful country here in Arizona.
Our new place can see a drop in temperature as much as 30 degrees in 10 minutes!! it's really quite amazing!
Anyway - we had a wonderfully "resting" time up there and now we're down here to wish Jonathan (Jenna's oldest boy) - a happy 6th birthday, and bid a farewell to 17 yr. old Michael, (Kathy's son) -as he leaves for school in Mississippi, and to await the birth of Jenna's #3 a little girl - which is imminent -and finally , to try to find out where our moving van of "stuff" from Canada is! We hope to retreat to the mountains for at least 6 weeks -- pretty soon.
Meanwhile - we are a bit warm here in the valley of the Sun , at 110 degrees today! But ! we keep comfortable INSIDE in the air conditioning and looking OUT at the sunshine :)Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-43789317510927153282007-07-16T16:58:00.000-07:002007-07-16T17:18:31.063-07:00Saying Goodbye - - -

- - - to good friends, Beautiful lake with beautiful sunsets, Loons, birds of many kinds, walks on the country road, picking wildflowers along the way -looking for deer, Eastern Strawberries for Strawberry shortcake - and picking them ourselves!, - Corn on the cob and Wonderful Eastern Tomato's in August - -

We're getting packed! cleaning and throwing away like crazy!

Last Thursday, Friends Joan and Ray Sharp - took us on an excursion to Toronto to find Mt. Where did March go? March! the month when the fragrance of citrus blossoms fills the air all around Phoenix! The month when often the doors and windows can be open to let the fragrance and the sunshine in! The month when suddenly the Petunia's and the Geraniums that were looking a bit sparse and straggly -- - suddenly seem to overnight , burst into healthy, full bloom! And surprises happen -- a Daffodil sprouts up under our kitchen window -- and then several yellow Iris -- followed by purple Iris -- and then some more yellows -- Iris that I really dont quite remember planting - but it seems it was years ago - and for several years there were no blooms to be found - and then ! Surprise !
I love this time of year - the birds seems so happy - -and seem to almost begin to accept my drinking my morning coffee near them as they chow down at the multiple feeders we have out for them. I even have a friend or two who are interested in my pictures !!! That's a special gift -- ! Of course they are of my generation - and have time or have made time to also enjoy such things as "birds n blooms" :)
---------------------- Since I last wrote in here - Ralph (Grandpa) - -has had a renewal of energy since a Pacemaker was installed ! And then he had his cataract removed ! Such a pleasure to read with two eyes - instead of with one eye shut :)
--------------------------------
Great Grandchild #8 has joined the family- - Sophia Annabelle Ulm! Mommy Melissa and daddy Dave are enjoying her -- -as are all those who love her. What a gift -- healthy, precious babies!
- - -- - -------------------
Also since I last wrote in here, I have added another year of life to my scoreboard. I am thankful! "Each Day is a GIFT!" (and we now have a sign watching over our living room to remind us of that , JUST in case we forget once in awhile :)
I Note that our family blog is almost as neglected as this one of mine -- - kind of too bad -b ut this is a world of hurry hurry and busy , busy -- and besides that - most of our family keep in touch often with e-mails and/or phone calls - -
But I just thought I'd add a bit now and then - - for ? -- not sure what - - :)
Maybe , just maybe - - someone checks in once in awhile. :)
So! On with the MOnth of April!Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7221889851024455841.post-80329620666517426802007-01-15T08:04:00.000-08:002007-01-15T08:19:36.879-08:00Ice in the desertPhoenix has broken the record of cold, set in 1990! Our Bouganvillia are all black --I didn't heed the freeze warning on Saturday night - so they got frozen - -although nothing else did.
Last night, in preparation -we put lights in the citrus trees and some sheets over plants - and Ralph turned on the watering system to "low" - - It was too late for the Bouganvillia :) and this morning they are even MORE black and sad looking -
We woke up this morning to news of ice on the streets and many accidents.
The poor "Runners" , in town for the big Marathon -and from places North - must be very disappointed. Surely they were all hoping for nice warm weather. It just goes to show -- NOTHING is for sure - either here in Arizona or anywhere. :)
I'm now thinking of all the members of our family who had to be on the roads this morning -
Today is Martin Luther King day --so possibly some have a holiday off - and are snug in their homes - - I hope so!Grandma Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00638022433732477820noreply@blogger.com1
